The British Daily Mail newspaper said, in exclusive news, that the Liverpool attacking star has already agreed to move to the Spanish team Barcelona in the next summer Mercato.
Barcelona intends to strengthen the ranks of its team in the Mercato next summer, after resolving its financial crisis and the departure of some of its main players, in order to balance its accounts and reduce the salary block.
Barcelona’s strategy is currently based on signing players at the lowest cost, so the sports administration is looking for good players whose contracts with their teams are about to expire to join for free.
Here is the Daily Mail report:
Roberto Firmino has agreed to join Barcelona when his contract with Liverpool expires in June. He will conclude his glittering eight-year stay at Anfield, as he is no longer a regular in Jurgen Klopp’s side.
He has won the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and Club World Cup since his £29m move from Hoffenheim in 2015.
Klopp explained that he would have liked to keep Firmino, 31, but the Brazilian player decided to move on to a new challenge.
He suffered a hamstring injury and will miss the next three matches, but Klopp remains hopeful he can return before the end of the season.
New signings Darwin Nunez and Cody Jaco, from Benfica and PSV Eindhoven respectively, caused Firmino to be dropped from the starting line-up.
Fan favorite Firmino has scored 109 goals in 360 appearances for Liverpool and can expect an emotional farewell after the final home game of the season, against Aston Villa on May 20.
